UpPipeThis is easily the best performing, highest quality uppipe you can buy! Crucial Racing’s uppipe is manufactured to the absolute highest quality standards using mandrel bent 304 stainless steel. Our pipe matches the turbo inlet diameter perfectly, ensuring minimal disruption of exhaust gas flow due to turbulence. All joints are 100% TIG welded for rigidity and long life. The 304 stainless flanges are CNC laser cut, and the flange faces are surface ground perfectly flat after welding to insure a leak free seal.

The pipe and flanges are coated with the highest quality metallic-ceramic thermal protective barrier available today (2000 F is its sustained temperature rating and at 2400 F the coating still retains its integrity) to keep under-hood temperatures dramatically lower and to maintain exhaust gas velocity for the quickest possible spool-up. The coating also protects the metal from the corrosive elements in the exhaust gas, as well as the exhaust heat itself. Extreme care is taken during Crucial's extensive coating application process to ensure that the coating is applied consistently and will never fail. The EGT probe is eliminated to protect the turbocharger from the potential of a failed probe and to minimize disruption of exhaust gas flow. Note that there is absolutely no purpose to have an EGT probe in a catless uppipe, which is why the STi does not have one. Additionally, when adding an aftermarket EGT probe for a gauge, it has to be 2" to 4" from the cylinder head in order to produce accurate readings. There is no flex joint to cause turbulence in the gas flow and to eventually crack and fail. Our solid pipe flows smooth, fast, and lasts a lifetime!

The quality of the welds is extremely apparent! A proper TIG weld on stainless steel will be colorful -- gold and other colors. If it is gray or dull gray it was done too hot and too quickly and isn't as strong. We do our parts right! Notice, additionally, the full weld on the inside for seal and for smooth exhaust flow, and the spot welds externally to provide the best possible expansion characteristics and strength. This is the proper way to weld an exhaust part for a turbocharged application (ref. Corky Bell). Note: the pipe is in raw/rough form... since we always coat them, they don't get cleaned and polished after being assembled.
